Track Sectors
Long run to Turn 1, a big braking zone, then a tight hairpin complex that sets up the race's most reliable overtake.
Fast, rhythmic mid-section with the stadium section and a pair of long right-handers that demand rear-end stability.
Technical final sector through Turns 12–14 with a short chute onto the main straight — traction here defines a lap.
About Bahrain
Designed by Hermann Tilke and opened in 2004, Bahrain International Circuit sits in the Sakhir desert south of Manama. Its five-kilometre layout is defined by three long straights joined by heavy braking zones, which has made it one of the most reliable overtaking tracks on the calendar. The combination of low grip, fluctuating track temperatures and abrasive surface rewards clean car balance and strong traction.
Since 2014 the race has been run at night under floodlighting, giving the circuit its signature look and keeping cockpit and ambient temperatures more manageable. Bahrain has alternated as the season opener with Melbourne in recent seasons and is a frequent pre-season testing venue — teams arrive knowing more about this track than almost any other on the calendar.

Circuit History
Bahrain became the first Arab nation to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2004, when Michael Schumacher took a dominant Ferrari victory. The 2010 race briefly used a longer "endurance" loop through the outer paddock infield, a one-off that was dropped after a single season. Political unrest forced cancellation of the 2011 race, but the event has been a fixture of the calendar ever since, hosting title deciders and season openers alike.
