Track Sectors

1
Sector 1

A fast run from the start-finish straight through the first complex of corners — medium to high-speed transitions on the opening sector.

2
Sector 2

Technical middle sector with a banked corner unique to Madrid, and a series of direction-change passages that load front tyres heavily.

3
Sector 3

Final sector flows onto the pit straight via a long-radius curve — overtakes will be defined by the tow approaching the line.

About Circuit IFEMA

Circuit IFEMA Madrid is a brand-new hybrid street-and-permanent circuit built around the IFEMA convention centre in the north-east of Madrid. Designed by Dromo in collaboration with the Spanish federation and FOM, the 5.474-kilometre layout threads 22 corners through a purpose-built section and on-street lengths in the adjacent Valdebebas neighbourhood. A banked corner — the first of its kind for the FIA on a new-spec circuit — sits in the middle sector.

The track makes its Formula 1 debut at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix, taking over the Spanish GP slot from Barcelona-Catalunya for that year (Barcelona continues to host the Catalunya Grand Prix on the calendar). Madrid's mix of flat-out straights and technical infield is intended to produce overtaking that Barcelona's post-chicane-removal layout hasn't fully delivered on.

Circuit History

Madrid hosted the Spanish Grand Prix once previously — at the Jarama circuit north of the city, from 1968 to 1981 intermittently. The new IFEMA layout has no direct connection to Jarama; it was designed and built from scratch on an industrial and convention site within the Madrid metropolitan area. The 2026 race is the circuit's first championship-level Formula 1 event.
